Trainings & workshops

CIPHE drives knowledge transfer and technical excellence through specialized trainings and workshops in animal experimentation, flow cytometry, and biomedical research, supporting education, collaboration, and innovation.

Sharing Knowledge and Building Expertise

CIPHE plays a leading role in training, scientific outreach, and the dissemination of technical and methodological expertise within the biomedical research community. The institute is committed to knowledge transfer in transnational research and the advancement of professional qualifications, from technicians and engineers to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

Animal Experimentation Training

CIPHE engineers and staff are actively involved in animal experimentation training programs, organized in collaboration with CNRS, INSERM, and Aix-Marseille University (AMU). These sessions cover multiple levels of responsibility, including operator, designer, surgical practice, phenotyping, and genetic engineering. Key programs include:

  • Master’s Degree, Professional track (Year 2), Aix-Marseille University,

  • University Diploma in Animal Experimentation (Faculty of Pharmacy, AMU), including theoretical modules on “Techniques of transgenesis and cryopreservation of murine lines” and practical sessions on “Surgical approaches in mice”,

  • INSERM continuing education programs,

  • Course: Using Animal Models in Biology – The Mouse as a Genetic Model to Study Gene Function,

  • Hands-on practical workshops on general mouse surgery (CNRS training).

Multiparametric Flow Cytometry Training

CIPHE is a key player in flow cytometry training, offering on-site sessions and contributing to national and European educational initiatives. Highlights include:

  • Advanced training in multiparametric cytometry data analysis, developed jointly with CELPHEDIA partner centers: PHENOMIN-CIPHE (Marseille) and AniRA (Lyon)

  • INSERM continuing education programs such as “Multiparametric Flow Cytometry” and “Cytometry: From Photon to Cell”

CIPHE also co-created the IMPACT website with the CRCM, serving as the Marseille Cytometry Passport, and leads the Computational Cytometry Club within the French Cytometry Association (AFC). The institute participates actively in the European Thematic School on Mouse Phenogenomics organized by PHENOMIN.

National and International Networks

CIPHE is strongly involved in multiple networks and committees, including:

  • CELPHEDIA national network

  • Master 2 Immunology jury, Aix-Marseille University

  • Regional Platform Coordination CoReBio PACA

  • INSERM Training Workshop Scientific Committee

  • INSERM National Training Commission

  • Scientific and professional associations such as AFC, AMU Flow, ASPEC, INFRAFRONTIER, IMPC, ISIDORe, ISAC, INSERM Quality Network, RNSBEA

Impact and Legacy

Through its ongoing commitment to training, technical excellence, and best practices, CIPHE has established itself as a key contributor to the national and European scientific landscape. Its activities support the development of research personnel, promote high standards in animal experimentation and cytometry, and foster innovation through education and collaboration.
